What does it mean to pray in Jesus' name?
ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ନାମରେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରିବାର ଅର୍ଥ କ'ଣ?
Prayer in Jesus' name is taught in John 14:13-14, "Whatever you ask in my name, I will do so that the Father may be glorified through the Son." If you ask me for something in my name, I will do it. Some people misuse this verse thinking that God will always answer what we have asked for at the end of the prayer, "in the name of Jesus." This is essentially treating the words "in the name of Jesus" as a magical formula. It's not entirely biblical.
ଯୋହନ ୧୪:୧୩-୧୪ରେ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ନାମରେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା ଶିକ୍ଷା ଦିଆଯାଇଛି, "ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମାନେ ମୋ ନାମରେ ଯାହା ମାଗିବ, ମୁଁ ତାହା କରିବି ଯାହା ଦ୍ୱାରା ପିତାଙ୍କୁ ପୁତ୍ରଙ୍କ ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ମହିମା ମିଳିପାରିବ। ଯଦି ତୁମେ ମୋତେ ମୋ ନାମରେ କିଛି ମାଗିବ, ମୁଁ ତାହା କରିବି । କିଛି ଲୋକ ଏହି ପଦର ଅପବ୍ୟବହାର କରନ୍ତି ଯେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା ଶେଷରେ ଆମେ ଯାହା ମାଗିଛୁ ତାହାର ଉତ୍ତର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ସର୍ବଦା ଦେବେ, "ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ନାମରେ। ଏହା ମୂଳତଃ "ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ନାମରେ" ଶବ୍ଦଗୁଡ଼ିକୁ ଏକ ଯାଦୁସୂତ୍ର ଭାବରେ ବିବେଚନା କରୁଛି । ଏହା ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଭାବରେ ବାଇବେଲ୍ ନୁହେଁ।
Praying in Jesus' name means praying for His authority and asking God the Father to act on our prayers because we have come to Him in the name of Jesus, His Son. The meaning of prayer in the name of Jesus is the same as praying according to God's will. "And what we feel before him is that; If we ask for something according to His will, He listens to us. When we know that what we ask for listens to us, we also know that we have received what we asked of Him" (1 John 5:14-15). ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ନାମରେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରିବାର ଅର୍ଥ ହେଉଛି ତାଙ୍କର ଅଧିକାର ପାଇଁ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରିବା ଏବଂ ପିତା ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କୁ ଆମର ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା ପାଳନ କରିବାକୁ କହିବା କାରଣ ଆମେ ତାଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ନାମରେ ତାଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସିଛୁ। ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ନାମରେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନାର ଅର୍ଥ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଇଚ୍ଛା ଅନୁଯାୟୀ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରିବା ସମାନ ଅଟେ । "ଏବଂ ଆମେ ତାଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଯାହା ଅନୁଭବ କରୁଛୁ ତାହା ହେଉଛି; ଯଦି ଆମେ ତାଙ୍କ ଇଚ୍ଛା ଅନୁଯାୟୀ କିଛି ମାଗିଥାଉ, ସେ ଆମକଥା ଶୁଣନ୍ତି। ଯେତେବେଳେ ଆମେ ଜାଣୁ ଯେ ଆମେ ଯାହା ମାଗୁଛୁ ତାହା ଆମ କଥା ଶୁଣେ, ଆମେ ଏହା ମଧ୍ୟ ଜାଣୁ ଯେ ଆମେ ତାଙ୍କ ବିଷୟରେ ଯାହା ମାଗିଥିଲୁ ତାହା ଆମକୁ ମିଳିଛି" (୧ ଯୋହନ ୫:୧୪-୧୫)। ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ନାମରେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରିବା ଯାହା ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ମହିମା ଏବଂ ସମ୍ମାନ ଆଣିବ ।
Praying "in Jesus' name" at the end of the prayer is not a magical formula. If we ask or say things that are not for God's glory and in accordance with God's will, then it would be meaningless to ask "in the name of Jesus." In the name of Jesus, it is the prayer that is really and for His glory that is very important, not a certain word at the end of the prayer. It is not the words that have meaning in prayer, but the purpose behind the prayer that holds meaning. Praying for things that are in agreement with God's will is the essence of praying in Jesus' name.
